WHERE THE LAND ENDS
A one page graphic short story, based on the novel ‘Foster’ by Claire Keegan. It tells the story of an un-named young girl staying with her bereaved aunt and uncle in rural Ireland for the summer. My visual narrative depicts one chapter of the book, in which the girl and her uncle venture out from their house at night to the nearby beach, wandering through the dunes and walking along the sand. I wanted to capture the sense of solitude in the landscape, but also a feeling of closeness between the two characters within the landscape.
